Beautiful hotel in a lovely location. Artwork, sculptures and memorabilia are a real treat. We didn’t eat any meals there, but thins looked and smelled great! Bedroom was beautifully decorated and the bed was huge and super comfy. Only small detractors for us were the reception music plays all day, through till nearly midnight. Which we could hear in our room the whole time. The bathrooms need some work, but the hotel acknowledge this and left a note to say they’re working on it as their next jobs. Which is great. Overall a beautiful place with friendly staff and quirky style.

Whilst we have visited the gardens on several occasions and enjoyed coffee and cake on the terrace this was our first stay and we were not disappointed. The view from the Velvet Goldmine room was stunning and the room itself was so comfortable. We chose to have dinner on both nights and sampled the whole 3 course menu which was food heaven accompanied by excellent service. We also enjoyed the breakfast option and this feast at the table is a great concept and a real treat. All produce is locally sourced and a lot of the plant edibles are from the garden itself. This was a much needed break after a challenging 6 months and a perfect way to recharge the batteries in beautiful North Devon.
