We were given the wrong room at check in. That was corrected in a few hours, but not before my wife getting her new shoes doused by sprinklers. The new room was spacious but had numerous issues. The TV could not receive live programming, only old, streamed repeats. The bedroom TV didn’t work at all. Staff could not help or fix it. A previous guest had left dirty dishes in the dishwasher, which we didn’t see right away. They were dirty and moldy; pretty gross. Worst of all, we had NO HOT WATER for the entire stay. Cold showers every day. Some lame excuse about “the gas company” but it was not fixed. There were some other minor issues. After considerable hassle, Mod did finally credit back one night’s stay.

An excellent value. We were upgraded to a suite, which was really amazing. I think this property was newly re-done and still needs a few finishing touches, but was mid century magical all the same. Best location right off of El Paseo in great un-gated neighborhood. Great for walking and biking around.
