Kauai is an island in the Central Pacific, part of the Hawaiian archipelago. The island of Kauai (sometimes called the Garden Island) is the perfect option for a family to visit a rugged and authentic Hawaiian Island. In addition to its dramatic beauty, the island is home to numerous beaches and rivers. One can kayak the Wailua river, surf at several beaches, snorkel on Poipu beach and hike the trails of Koke'e State Park and Waimea Canyon (also known as Grand Canyon of the Pacific). The dramatic cliffs and pinnacles of its Napali Coast have served as a backdrop for major Hollywood films, while 10-mile-long Waimea Canyon and the Nounou Trails traversing the Sleeping Giant Mountain ridge are hiking destinations.
