DO NOT STAY HERE - Bed Bugs, Roaches, and Refusal to Refund My wife and I booked a stay here last Saturday. We checked into our room, dropped off our things, and left for an event in Decatur. When we got back around 10:30 PM and started getting ready for bed, my wife—who is highly allergic to bed bugs—found a live bed bug on the queen mattress closest to the window. We immediately inspected the rest of the room and found a second bed bug, along with dark spotting across all three mattresses. It was clear evidence of either a growing bed bug infestation or unwashed sheets stained from previous guests. To make matters worse, we also found roaches in the room and noticed that the bathroom floors were severely rotted. The condition of the room was completely uninhabitable. We went straight to the front desk to notify them. While standing there, I checked recent Google reviews and saw several other guests complaining about bed bugs in just the last few weeks. We told the desk we would absolutely not be staying and chose to drive three hours home in the middle of the night instead. We were so concerned about bringing these pests into our home that we actually threw away our overnight bags and all the clothing we had brought with us. Despite all of this, the manager is flat-out refusing to refund our money for the stay. Avoid this hotel at all costs. The management does not care about your health, safety, or the cleanliness of their rooms.

I stayed at La Quinta Inn Decatur in December, and overall the stay was okay. It does look like the hotel has been renovated, which I appreciated. That said, the cleanliness of our room was questionable. The door frame and several areas of the room looked like they needed fresh paint or touch-ups. The ceiling also appeared to have had water damage that had just been painted over. When staying in a hotel, I expect the room to feel clean, fresh, and well-maintained. Unfortunately, between the worn paint and overall condition, it felt more “lived in” than it should have. Additionally, the USB and USB-C charging ports in the room were not working, which was inconvenient. I share this feedback in hopes it helps improve the experience for future guests.
