The hotel is nice but the staff needs some help in the customer service/hospitality area. Sighing, groaning, complaining. Annoyed at guests. Very bizarre for a hotel let alone an expensive one like this.

I arrived 15 minutes early, but was unable to check in, which is very rare in my experience. I was asked to wait while the front desk associate retrieved her manager. When the manager showed up, I watched as another couple checked in after me (still before check in time). Come check in time, the front desk associate completely ignored me. I reproached her after 3pm, and that same front desk associate said she had to get her manager again. After the front desk person left, a different associate (who was not the manager from before), was able to check me in. Mind you, I was in a King studio for $600/night. I should've requested a different room because of the "white noise" from the HVAC units outside. Because the room does not offer free water, I returned to the lobby to retrieve some from the tank next to the front desk. There were no cups. When I asked for one, the front desk associate asked me to wait while she checked in 3+ different guests/parties. I have a medical condition where I can pass out if I don't stay extremely hydrated, so I plopped myself down on the nearest baggage caddy, and waited for my lightheadedness to subside. I did not have the energy to be more assertive. After the guests cleared, I asked again. The associate had cups RIGHT there at her computer. I couldn't believe I was deprioritized when it would've taken seconds. At check out, I handed my key, and gave my last name to the front desk. An hour later, I get a call to confirm I had checked out?

Not sure why this place has a resort fee. But maybe because the rooftop was closed out of season while I was there (opens Memorial Day?) The gym is big and well outfitted, but no pool or sauna or even showers outside the main room. There is a restaurant/bar on-site that is nice, but being a guest doesn’t seem to have any benefit. Good location, nice building. Some of the staff were helpful, others seemed overworked or generally put out. We had a major issue with no hot water for several hours which went uncompensated even though I explained I had to take a cold shower to get ready for my event. No attempt to get me to a space with a hot shower available. The nighttime door was locked and keys wouldn’t get us in, so another guest had to let a group of us in, no staff in sight. Made me nervous to go out later, so I stayed in. Pretty room, nice art, overall could be a luxury stay if the staff could keep up with the issues guests experienced.
