Dear past self: don’t book this hotel. Yes, it’s the least expensive option in the area for the weekend you need to be in NYC. Yes, the front desk person and housekeeping person you met are helpful and genuinely kind. Yes, the room itself is clean and the bed is especially comfy. Yes, it’s just a short 30-45 minute subway ride to mid-town (and yes, the A train is two blocks away). But…you’ll spend so much money on Ubers on your return trip because the neighborhood after dark feels a little too electric. In fact, that first night, you’ll wake up to a man banging on the doors on your floor, screaming “nooooo” and other things, until he breaks down sobbing for a full 20 minutes or so. On night two, you’ll scoot past the folks hanging outside the hotel, only to hear some gun shots a few minutes later outside your window. The location of the hotel will inspire you to leave early in the daylight and stay out all day - which in itself is kind of a blessing because it forces you to see things in the city you might otherwise skip. It’s true that night three, the final night, is most uneventful and you might even feel a little bit of growth having seen this whole thing through. But if you knew at booking what I know now, I’d suggest just putting the money spent on car services towards a room a little closer to where you wanted to spend time. But…ultimately, it’s up to you. Either way, we’re lucky to have a chance to enjoy some time in this city in this country. Be safe and spread joy

I was visiting Brooklyn for a week and decided to stay here through 2 seperate bookings. The staff was excellent and very friendly and parking was easy. Unfortunately I have to give this place 1 star because there were 2 roaches in the first room I booked so I had to stay with a friend most of the nights I was in the city. While I understand this is common in a big city like New York, I’ve stayed in Brooklyn many times and never had this problem.
