We had 2 bookings made separately through Hotels.com. On arrival we were met by the hosts and immediately told that the booking had been cancelled. We were told that we hadn't paid enough for our rooms? Although, we had paid exactly what we had been asked. The woman went on to say that Hotels.com hadn't taken into account her charge of 21%? We were meeting family for a meal around 6pm so extremely under pressure to unpack and get out. We asked how much extra we needed to pay. I've never seen anything like it. She started scribbling numbers on a note pad. We did try saying that we had paid what was advertised and any issues she had regarding the 21% should be with Hotels.com and not us. She was very rude and aggressive. The husband then piped up saying "if it was advertised at £10 per night would you have paid that? Well, yes was our answer we would pay what was advertised. We actually paid £134.40 for 2 nights without breakfast. So that was a fair price! At this point, I summoned my group, asked the aggressive landlord and landlady to refund our accounts and out we went. Left to try and find alternative accommodation and get out to meet the rest of the family. We did find alternative accommodation. We both got our refunds within a couple of days, thank goodness! I booked this hotel based on the reviews. I had another look at their reviews and it is quite clear they were from the previous owners. DON'T TOUCH WITH A BARGE POLE! I would have given 0 stars!
