The shower basically didn’t work, all the furniture is damaged, the room smelled, there was a leftover beer can from the previous occupants so that didn’t exactly inspire confidence in the cleaning. The hotel we were put in was not the Sportsman inn, but rather a dumpier one on the opposite side of Gus’ pub so obviously the online pictures did not match the room we got. Port McNeill is a lovely place with lovely people including the staff I interacted with so I chose to not complain about the room since it was just one night. I paid more to stay at the sportsman than my previous stay at the Humpback because I was hoping for it to be an upgrade. I couldn’t recommend the Sportsman’s Inn and I would avoid booking there again.

The hotel we stayed in was the Port MacNeill hotel (operated by The Sportsman Inn). It was rather dated looking. It needed a good cleaning in places (esp. where the coffee supplies are kept) and around the window panes where mould was present. The bed was very comfortable. Lots of parking spaces. Good for a one night stay.

Noisy upstairs but other than that good
