Stopover for one night en route, but wish we stayed longer

The hotel is located just off a busy road. There is limited parking available at the hotel which is included in price. It’s beautifully decorated with tasteful furnishings. We found the room to be a little small and the addition of a chair to sit on in the room would be beneficial. The balcony was lovely and provided a wonderful view of the beach and garden. The room was spotlessly clean. We had an issue with the restaurant. We had booked half board. We went for dinner on the first night and were presented with the menu. We each chose a starter, a main and a desert. The food was very good and well presented and the staff were very attentive. On the second evening, we went for dinner and a different manager was on duty. She asked if we were half board to which we replied yes we were. As we were looking through the menu, the waiter came to our table and explained that we could only choose from the menu at the front of the selections which was €35 per person. As we were not informed about this on the first evening, it became apparent that the choices we had made the night before resulted in us owning an additional €36! At no point were we told that the half board price we had paid upfront was for dinner to the value of €35 per person. The manager was very apologetic about us not being made aware of the choices we were entitled to on the first evening. In my opinion, we should only have been given the menu included in the price rather than being presented with the full menu.
