Please note that parking is available at the hotel for an extra charge. The Kurhotel Sassnitz - das alte Seemannsheim is an ideal base for exploring the unique chalk cliffs, the wooded countryside of the Jasmund National Park, and the whole island of Rügen. Please note that the pool in the Rügen Hotel is currently closed.

We stayed for one night. It was a decent and clean room. The photos showed pictures of an indoor pool. The pool is not at the hotel. It's located at the hotel next door. The Kurhotel gives you a pass along with bathrooms, slippers, and towels to bring over to the next door.

Sassnitz is close, about 15 km, to the main National Park on Rügen Island, Jasmund, so whether you have a rented car (as I did) or use plentiful local buses, the location of Sassnitz, and of this Kurhotel in particular, is excellent. The hotel provides free and convenient outdoor parking (from which the view was superior to the one from my room). The local people are very pleasant, wnich, however, could not be said for some of the reception staff. Breakfast is first rate in terms of both contents and location. My main problem was the inferior room, with an interior view. Even if it's not entirely certain who was right about what I actually booked, the management refused to give me, an overseas visitor, a room with sea view – despite being only half full. As for the advertised use of a pool, that's only in an adjacent hotel.
