I reserved a room at Historico Central Hotel specifically to check in at 6 AM after a very early flight, just to get a couple hours of sleep before the 1 PM checkout time. We left the room at 1:08 PM. Before heading downstairs, we sat for a few minutes in the seating area by the elevator that each floor provides, where the hotel offers complimentary water. After finishing our water, we went directly to the front desk to check out. The front desk woman didn’t greet us at all. Instead, in a very rude and almost sinister tone, she immediately told us we would be charged an 800 MXN late fee because we were not physically at the front desk exactly at 1 PM. What made it worse was overhearing her do the exact same thing to another guest shortly after. It genuinely felt like she enjoyed penalizing guests. I understand hotels have checkout policies, but charging nearly 40% of the room rate because guests arrive to the lobby a few minutes late despite already being out of the room, is excessive, unreasonable, and unacceptable. Unfortunately, that wasn’t our only issue. The first room we were given had an overwhelming urine smell. The odor was so strong that we could not stay in the room longer than a couple of minutes and had to request another room immediately. The second room was better, but the shower water temperature constantly fluctuated while showering. The hotel does offer complimentary snacks and drinks in the attached cafe, but most of the menu was unavailable. Beware.

Great place to stay in the Centro Historico, we were so comfortable here. Very unusual concept where you have an all inclusive cafe open 24 hours and can order coffee/beer/soft drinks and snacks for free. First time I’ve seen something like that outside of all inclusive resorts. All the staff members were so lovely from the waiters to the receptionists and cafe staff and the guys at the door. Room was super clean and comfortable. Good location short walking distance to Bellas Artes, Zocalo etc. The cafe staff recommended us taqueria nearby that ended up being our favorite tacos of the trip. Thank you :)

Food was great! Cafe was 24 hrs and included in your stay so you didnt have to pay anything! The rooms were very clean and updated. The only issues we had were with some of the staff in the cafe, they seemed to have a very poor attitude with us specifically after hearing us speak english. One person in specific was A woman by the name Itzel, she had a very condescending tone anytime she answered our questions and it didnt make us feel very comfortable/welcome, The rest of the staff however were very helpful and happy to answer our questions!
