Front desk staff tends to disappear, leaving customers standing around unsure if anyone is even working, but other than that this hotel is literally from another time. Rooms are immaculate and clean while still maintaining that vibe that you have been transported to the past. Bar is inviting and the service was excellent. We had a great time here chasing ghosts.

We were disappointed with the Mizpah. It took a while to get into our room, (up and down the elevator to the 5th floor 2x) as our keys did not work. Apparently, the front desk clerk didn't know how to make the keys..... not sure about that. There was no heat in the room. The front desk brought us a space heater that worked to heat the room but said the heat was on the 'blitz.' The bathroom is in dire need of an update with the light so dim you could barely see and the fan sounded like a jet engine. The woodwork in the bathroom (towel bar, vanity, mirror, etc.) really needs to be replaced. It looks like it all came from the 80s. The TV didn't work as stated w/ the directions and we never found the 'local' channels. The man who brought the heater up said he didn't know how it worked either. The lobby/downstairs area is very nice and historic looking with some displays.
